Open PhD student position for the neuroelectronic interfaces

There is a PhD student position open in the Kovacic Lab for the research of neuroelectronic interfaces. Ideal candidate will carry out experimental PhD research on design and application of new nano-structural materials in neuroelectronic interfaces for biomedical applications. The project is carried out within the Research Excellence Centre STIM REI at the University of Split. More details are given below. Deadline for the application is October 12th, 2018.

Letter to Editor published in Science

As member of deaf scientists community (HIARO), Dr.Kovacic co-authored a letter sent to Editor of Science re. sustainable model of distributed academic peer networking for deaf scientists. Neuroth donated audiometric equipment

Direktorica Neurotha Iva Šimunec i prorektorica Sveučilišta u Splitu Rosanda Mulić u četvrtak, 22. prosinca, potpisali su ugovor o Neurothovoj donaciji audiometrijskog sustava renomiranog proizvođača  Interacoustics vrijednog oko 60.000 kn Sveučilištu u Splitu.

Sustav omogućuje precizno utvrđivanje stupnja oštećenosti sluha. Time je  laboratorijska-audiometrijska komora pri Sveučilištu u Splitu koja je  prethodno izgrađena i uspostavljena uz pomoć europskih fondova, te uz  sufinanciranje Splitsko-dalmatinske županije u potpunosti kompletirana i spremna za znanstvena istraživanja u području slušanja i govora.

Slobodna Dalmacija je objavila vijest o ovoj donaciji.

Summer School of Medical Bionics for Hearing has ended

The Summer School of Medical Bionics for Hearing was held in Split, between August 27th and September 3rd in the organization of Speech and Hearing Research Lab. There were 35 participants from 13 countries, including 14 invited speakers. The School included following topics: Auditory periphery & cochlear mechanics, Neural processing in hearing, Auditory neuroelectronics, Cellular aspects of hearing, In vitro culturing of auditory neurons devices, Current solutions in medical bionics (cochlear implants, auditory brainstem implants, deep brain stimulation etc.). Apart from talks, the School offered 8 various workshops with hands-on approach, as well as presentations of students and focus/discussion group.

Medical Bionics for Hearing Summer School will start on Saturday, August 27th at the School of Medicine, University of Split. The School aims at presenting important theoretical and experimental knowledge and practices in the field of medical bionics for hearing. Auditory bionics project (STRIPmed) finished

Project STRIPmed  (Strengthening the capacity of University of Split for research, development and innovation in medical neuroelectronics). Project is funded by Structural EU fond RC.2.2.08-059:  (2014-2016,  790 k€ / 6.01 mil. kuna). Project leader Damir Kovačić, UNIST, MEFST and Partner: Mikroprojekt d.o.o (director: dr. Ježić). Project engaged 38 experts ( 13 newly employed)  in 3 interdisciplinary teams: neurobiology, microelectronics and data acquisition. Goal was to build up stronger capacity on applied research in medical auditory neuroelectronics.
